I wasn’t a desert person

Most of my life, I went to the beach or the woods. I thought the desert was dirt and a boring expanse.

Why I keep going back

Riding gave me time to see the desert differently. Away from city traffic, I started looking forward to the open space.

Anza-Borrego is now somewhere I plan rides to, rather than somewhere I overlook.
